Just a couple of test screen prints for the design on the endpapers of the book. More soon!

exhibition
My work is up in an exhibition in Boscombe this weekend! Here are a few snaps I took from the opening tonight. The exhibition is set up in an empty shop space and has all kinds of artwork on display. Everything of mine is for sale, so if you live in the area take a look!

if winter ends
Another (maybe the last of them?) batch of fully edited final images for the book! Got them printed out today, now I have to cut them to size, hand bind them into a neat little book, screen print the cover and create some endpapers. When it's all done I'll see if I can upload it to Issuu so y'all can see a digital version of it.
On a side note, this weekend a handful of my work is being exhibited along with a load of other cool people's at a pop-up exhibition in Boscombe in Bournemouth, so if you happen to live in that area check it out! There will be high quality prints for sale (wink wink).

tangled up in blue
Here are some more final images for the book, this time fully edited and cleaned up. Some I like a lot more than others... I think the last one probably turned out best. I'm considering re-drawing out the first image to make it neater, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking it's too messy just because I've been staring at these too much.

more covers
I'm thinking that perhaps here I have a front and back cover for the book, complete with blurb. Again, this will be screen printed, so some colour will be introduced. What do people think? Any feedback on the type for the back cover (tiger image)?
cover designs
Here are the potential cover designs for the book I'm working on! They're all black and white because they're designs I'm going to screen print onto the front of the book, after I've hand bound it. The colours will probably be a dark-ish blue onto an orange-y yellow cover. I can't decide which one I prefer, what does everyone think? Any feedback would be really helpful!

sleep the clock around
Here are some more finalised images for my grandmother's book! As you can see, the colours have changed a bit from the roughs so they fit with the palette I'm working with, and they're generally... well... more finished. The last two little images are for the start and end of the book.

bridges and balloons
Just three more roughs for my current project, illustrating my grandmother's book. They need quite a bit of tweaking... A lot of small ones and their home in the poplar tree in these images. I'm trying to stick to a limited palette of green, orange and blue with all the illustrations now.

know your onion
Here are some rough sketchbook pages for my current project, based on the first couple of chapters of my grandmother's book... they'll make more sense once the text is beside them, to explain the narrative. Essentially, the first part of the story you see here is about a young girl (my grandmother) moving from India, where she was born, to Denmark with her family. In comparison to India she finds Denmark very bleak and cold, and so uses her imagination to cheer herself up when she is sad or missing her old home.
I've been using regular pencil in a lot of places to represent the more realistic, sad or dull
parts of the girl's life, and colouring pencils and inks to signify the
imagined or exciting aspects- I
like the youthful quality they have and textures they create, and I
think they might appeal to a younger audience.
These images were to test the thumbnail sketches I'd created and see how they might work with colour, and making them has let me see a lot of things I want to change with them. I'm thinking of implementing a limited colour palette with these as I think there's too much going on at the moment. Not sure what colours yet but we'll see!
