Hello everyone. I'm sorry about the lack of posts on here recently, at the moment I'm busy trying to move all my stuff back to Bournemouth for the second year of university, and I'm also lacking a scanner until I get back. Just to let the world know I haven't abandoned this blog!

Anyways, I leave you with a series of sketchbook nik-naks from my Foundation Degree I just rediscovered, they are not amazing. Also, I realise that these are terrible quality scans, I would re-scan them but, alas, I have no scanner you see. Apologies!

Just another drawing for the tattoo series. The person in the drawing is actually the model Cole Mohr, he has strange tattoos.

Hullo again! Sorry I haven't posted any art things on here for a while, I just got back from a trip around Norway and Denmark, good times. Anyway, here is a quick doodle sketch I started before I went away and finished just now. I didn't sketch it out before hand with pencil, just launched straight into water colour, and tried to do it as speedily as possible- that's my excuse for it being kind of crooked and not that great (haha). The reason behind this one is.... I wanted to draw someone with freckles, pretty deep.

 

And there I am in lovely Norway. Inspiring stuff, the nature is completely overwhelming.

ikenaga yasunari (inspiration)

 

These are by the talented Ikenaga Yasunari (click). I really like these as I've always loved traditional Japanese art, Hokusai and all that. These paintings use the same old techniques as some of that type of art, it's called Nihonga. And the subjects of these images are so beautiful!

Just messing around with my new fancy water soluble colouring pencils here, they're pretty great. I like the effect they give a lot, and the fact that you can mix and match with pencil lines and a watercolour effect. I also like that this is a bit messy, but I know I could get a lot better too. Need more practice!

All of these lovely paintings are by Aya Takano, go and take a look! I really really like them, a lot of them are really big canvases which is not what I expected when I saw them. Most of them are sci-fi inspired, and they're quite sexy too, lots of naked people. Really nice colours here as well, mmm.

Here are some drawings I've been working on lately, having a lot of fun drawing people's tattoos. Some of them are made up, and others the models have in real life. I'm thinking of drawing at least three more like this so I'll have a series, all in different colours.

the official sting in the tale brochure

It has finally happened! Here we have the official 2012 Sting in the Tale festival of stories brochure that I have been doing all the illustrations for over the past few months. I wasn't the one who added the colour, but I think it's turned out alright! There will be an actual printed copy of this too which I am excited about receiving.
